Knowledge From Four Directions

THE EXPERTS

FOUR DIRECTIONS. ONE CENTRE.

Different Paths of Knowledge, Brought Together With Respect

The Finders NT does not approach the Seal through one discipline or one interpretation.
Instead, the project brings together people whose knowledge reaches across ancient history, geology, culture, maps, texts, maritime legacy, and the land itself.
Each expert represents one of the four cardinal directions — not as a hierarchy, but as part of the same circle of understanding.

KNOWLEDGE FROM FOUR DIRECTIONS

Four Perspectives. One Centre.

As questions surrounding the Seal grew, knowledge came from different directions — scholarship, geology, history, maps, cultural interpretation, maritime knowledge, and lived experience of the land.

Scholar, Guide & Foundation-Builder

East — Ed Liu

Ed Liu stands at the East direction of the centre — a place associated with first light, beginnings, and the gentle unfolding of understanding.
A humble and patient scholar, Ed brings the balanced wisdom of his Chinese ancestry with quiet strength and kindness.
He established the first foundations and connections to the ancient world, helping open the doorway through which the Seal’s meaning could begin to be explored.
Through calm guidance, knowledge, and carefully built pathways, Ed helped shape the early stages of the journey.

Geologist & Cultural Interpreter

West — John Taye Ajide

John Taye Ajide stands at the West direction of the centre — the place of depth, earth, metals, and grounded knowledge of the physical world.
As a geologist and cultural interpreter, John contributes an understanding of land, minerals, earth structures, and the cultural stories connected to them.
His knowledge helped reveal how the Seal may relate to the physical world and to cultures shaped by the land.
With experience reaching across Africa, the Indian Ocean, and beyond, John brings a broad perspective on geology, heritage, and the movement of knowledge across continents.

Keeper of Maps, Texts & Legacy Knowledge

North — Ian Hudson

Ian Hudson stands at the North direction of the centre — the place of stillness, memory, and accumulated knowledge.
Supported by a dedicated team, Ian brings expertise in maps, texts, historical frameworks, and legacy knowledge that extends far beyond the present moment.
His work helps preserve pathways to the past and connects ancient memory with the ongoing journey surrounding the Seal.
The brief also associates his contribution with knowledge of the ancient maritime world, textual lineage, and the historical threads linking earlier worlds with the present.

Driller, Land Steward & Finder

South — Johnno

Johnno stands at the South direction of the centre — the place of land, water, restoration, and the living world.
A highly skilled driller and Northern Territory landowner, his connection to the project is practical, grounded, and deeply tied to the land he works.
It was through ordinary work — clearing, restoring, and maintaining a floodway and clay pit — that the Seal was uncovered.
Not through searching. Not through theory. Through patience, labour, and the natural rhythm of the land.

Four Directions. One Shared Journey.

East, West, North, and South each bring something different to the centre.
Scholarship. Earth knowledge. Maps and memory. Land and lived experience.
No single direction tells the whole story.
Together, they form a wider circle of understanding around the Seal — allowing the journey to unfold through patience, respect, and shared knowledge.
