The Finders NT is the home of that journey — a place to explore the Seal, the people who helped uncover its story, and the knowledge gathered from four directions.
THE DISCOVERY
A Seal Unearthed From the Land
The story began at Scooters Roost NT, a property in Australia’s Northern Territory.
While working the land, clearing and restoring a floodway and clay pit, Johnno uncovered an object that would become the centre of a much larger journey.
It was not discovered through treasure hunting or deliberate searching. It emerged through everyday work, patience, and a close relationship with the land.
From that moment came questions — about its origin, its meaning, its history, and the path that may one day lead it home.
MORE THAN AN OBJECT
A Guide. A Reminder. A Symbol of Connection.
The Seal is approached with respect — not as an object around which to build hype, but as something that invites understanding.
Within the project, it is viewed as a guide and reminder of our relationship with the Earth, the universe, and all life within.
Its meaning does not belong to one imposed narrative. The journey begins with curiosity, reflection, and the willingness to look inward as well as outward.
Four directions of knowledge gathered around one remarkable discovery.
Four Perspectives. One Centre.
As questions surrounding the Seal grew, knowledge came from different directions — scholarship, geology, history, maps, cultural interpretation, maritime knowledge, and lived experience of the land.

Ed helped establish the early foundations connecting the discovery with knowledge of the ancient world.
West — John Taye Ajide
John brought knowledge of geology, metals, earth structures, cultures, and the stories held within the land.
North — Ian Hudson
Ian contributed maps, texts, historical frameworks, maritime knowledge, and long-held research.

South — Johnno
Johnno’s role begins with the land itself — the place where the Seal was uncovered during everyday work at Scooters Roost NT.
